About RouteCosted
The moving industry runs on information asymmetry. The carrier knows what your route books for; you get a teaser rate on the phone, a different number on moving day, and no way to tell a fair quote from a hostage situation. Meanwhile "average moving cost" articles quote one national number that is meaningless for your actual route.
RouteCosted closes the gap with one documented cost model applied identically to 40 curated routes (and any state pair via the calculator): typical low/typical/high bands for full-service movers, containers, and DIY truck rental, by home size and season. The model's every constant is published on the methodology page, and the honesty rule is absolute — these are bands, not quotes, and we say so everywhere they render.
We earn affiliate commissions on moving supplies and may be compensated by moving providers when you ask to be matched through our quote form — disclosed on every page it applies, consented to explicitly on every form, and firewalled from the model.
